Metropolitana Milanese
Metropolitana Milanese’s head office is in Milan, at 8, Via del Vecchio Politecnico, and it houses the administration departments and engineering divisions. The personnel that runs the water service work mainly in the branch office at 44, Via Meda.
A bit of history
The current premises in Via del Vecchio Politecnico, bought by Metropolitana Milanese in 1966, are part of a larger building complex linked to the Information Building in Piazza Cavour, was designed by Giovanni Muzio and built between 1938 and 1942 on commission by Benito Mussolini. A monumental piece of architecture, it was built on the site where the first campus of the city’s university, La Casa della Scienza e della Tecnica, used to be, hence the street name “del Vecchio Politecnico” [of the old polytechnic]. During its first years, MM’s offices were located in Piazza San Fedele and subsequently they were moved to via Fatebenefratelli.
